How the insurance claim works

Hail falls under the comprehensive part of your policy — a not‑at‑fault claim. Here's the whole process, start to finish:

STEP 1

Get a real estimate

Hail has to be seen in person — photos can't show hundreds of shallow dents across a panel. Bring the car to the shop and the estimate is free, or we'll come to you for a written estimate. Either way you'll know the number before you ever call your insurer.

STEP 2

File your claim & meet the adjuster

You file a comprehensive claim with your insurer. When the adjuster inspects the car, we're glad to be there so every dent makes it onto the estimate. Florida law lets you choose your repair shop — you're never required to use the insurer's shop.

STEP 3

We repair it — factory finish

Every dent is massaged out from behind the panel. No filler, no repaint, no color mismatch. Most hail jobs are done in one to three days, and much of the work can happen right in your driveway.

Straight talk about deductibles: your deductible is set by your policy and is your responsibility — in Florida, no honest shop can "waive" or absorb it, and offers to do so are a red flag. What we can do is give you an accurate estimate first, so you can decide whether a claim is even worth filing.

Hail damage FAQ

The questions every hail customer asks.

Does insurance cover hail damage?

Yes, under the comprehensive portion of most policies (not collision). Comprehensive claims are not‑at‑fault. Your deductible is whatever your policy says — check your declarations page or ask your agent. You file the claim; we repair the car and work from the adjuster's estimate.

What does a hail estimate cost?

Nothing if you bring the car to us — an in-person hail estimate at the shop is free. If you'd rather we came to you, a written on-site estimate is $150, paid up front and non-refundable; if you go ahead with the repair, that $150 comes off the price of the job. We don't quote hail from photos, because hail is counted panel by panel in proper light.

Will PDR keep my factory paint?

Yes. The metal is reshaped from behind the panel, so factory paint and corrosion protection are never sanded, filled, or resprayed. That's why PDR preserves resale value where a body-shop repaint doesn't.

How long does hail repair take?

Light hail is often same‑day. Heavy hail with hundreds of dents usually runs one to three days, depending on panel count and whether the headliner or trim needs to come out.

Do you come to me?

Yes — we're mobile across Lakeland and Central Florida. Most repairs happen at your home or workplace; severe damage may be scheduled at a covered location.

Is the repair permanent?

Yes. Once the metal is back to its original shape, it stays. Certified PDR is a permanent, factory‑finish repair.

Can you meet my insurance adjuster?

Happily. We'll be there for the inspection and answer the technical questions so nothing is missed on the estimate. The claim always stays in your name, with your insurer.

Two ways to get your hail estimate

Hail damage is counted dent by dent, in the right light. That can't be done from photos — so we don't pretend to quote it online. Pick whichever suits you:

Why we don't quote hail from photos: a phone camera flattens exactly the damage that matters. An estimate built from photos is a guess, and a guess helps nobody once an adjuster is involved. Seeing the car takes us twenty minutes and gives you a number that holds up.
